About Troop 1630
Troop 1630 is located in Rosenberg, Texas in the center of Fort Bend County. Our scout membership comes from many areas in the county such as Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg, and Needville.
BSA Troop 1630 is sponsored by the Methodist Men of the First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 3903. We meet every Monday evening in the Fellowship Hall at the church from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. 1630 is a small to medium size troop emphasizing a wide range of activities for both younger and older scouts. We have an active outdoor program with at least one outdoor program scheduled almost every month.
Every summer we participate in at least one summer camp. We will cycle through a number of camps both in-state and out of state to provide the scouts with a variety of summer camp experiences. In recent years we have attended Camp Daniel Boone in North Carolina; Camp Orr located within the Buffalo National River Wilderness Area in Northern Arkansas; El Rancho Cima near Wimberly, Texas; Lost Pines Scout Reservation in Bastrop, Texas; San Isabel Scout Reservation near Pueblo, Colorado; and Hale Scout Reservation in the Ouachita National Forest in southeastern Oklahoma.
We are happy to welcome new Scouts at any time, whether you’re crossing over from WEBELOS or have no previous Scouting experience. Scouting is open to all boys from age 11– 17. You do not have to start scouting at age 11. You can join Boy Scouts at any age, 11 years old or older.
